Men's Tennis Finishes First Day at ITA Central Region

Several members of the Hope College men's tennis team competed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Regional on Friday in St. Louis, Missouri.

In doubles, sophomore Ned Curley (Plymouth, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central HS) and senior Austin Becksvoort (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian) were edged in a first-round tiebreaker, 8-7 (4), to Wabash College's Rafael Rin and Muriolo Guarniari.

In singles, sophomore Paul Schneider (Fishers, Indiana / Hamilton Southeastern) dropped his match to Trine University's Samuel Yin, 6-0, 6-4.

Curley lost to Kalamazoo College's Derek Blackwell, 6-3 6-1.

The double-elimination tournament, continues on Saturday, Sept. 21.
