The Hope College men's soccer team went toe-to-toe with No. 23 -ranked University of Notre Dame on Tuesday night before falling 3-2 on a late Fighting Irish goal.
Freshman Ren Sylvester scored the game-winner for Notre Dame (6-2-2) with 7:24 remaining. It was the first meeting between the two teams.
The Flying Dutchmen tied the score at 2-2 in the 60th minute, capitalizing on a long throw-in to set up the first goal of the season for junior

Jackson Mindling (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) and junior
Caden Chenlo (East Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids) were credited with assists.
In the first half, Hope tied the score at 1-1 on Mindling's seventh goal of the season in the 17th minute.
Notre Dame held a 25-9 advantage in shots. Goalkeeper
Jack McDaniel (Portage, Michigan / Portage Northern) made six saves for the Flying Dutchmen.
