Men's and Women's Cross Country Make History Qualifying for the Same NCAA Championships

Hope will compete on Saturday, Nov. 22, in Spartanburg, S.C.

The Hope College men's and women's cross country teams are thankful for another trip down South together before Thanksgiving.

The Flying Dutchmen and Flying Dutch are headed to Spartanburg, South Carolina, this week to compete in the NCAA Division III National Championships on
Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Roger Milliken Center on the campus of Wofford College.

The regionally ranked Hope women received an at-large berth to nationals on Sunday after placing third at the 37-team Great Lakes Regional. The 16th-ranked and MIAA-champion Hope men qualified on Saturday by winning their regional.

It is the first time the Orange and Blue, led by head coach Mark Northuis, have qualified both teams for nationals.

The Flying Dutchmen are racing at nationals as a team for the second consecutive season and the 17th time in program history.

The Flying Dutch will run at nationals as a team for the 21st time in program history and for the first time since 2023.

Thirty-two teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top seven-person team from each of the 10 regions automatically qualified, and 22 additional teams were selected at-large.

Converse University and OneSpartanburg, Inc., are hosting the national championships. The men's race begins at 10 a.m., followed by the women's race at 11 a.m.

A live webstream of the championships will be available on NCAA.com beginning at 10 a.m. until the conclusion of the awards ceremony.
