The Hope College men's tennis team served up a 5-2 victory at Oberlin College (Ohio) on Saturday.

The Flying Dutchmen bounced back after losing at No. 1-ranked Case Western Reserve University (Ohio), 6-1, earlier in the day.

Hope (1-4 overall) earned four points during singles matches and one point during doubles by taking two of three flights.

In doubles, the Flying Dutchmen opened the match by winning the top two flights.

At No. 1 doubles, senior Austin Becksvoort (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian HS) and sophomore Ned Curley (Plymouth, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) teamed for a 6-4 victory against Oliver Knijnenburg and Zain Makada.

At No. 2 doubles, sophomores Cooper Nugent (Rochester Hills, Michigan / Rochester Adams) and Alec Maynard (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) defeated Shawn Lisann and Brady Huggett, 6-3.

Oberlin's No. 3 doubles team of Max Brose and Enrique Margain topped Hope sophomore Paul Schneider (Fishers, Indiana / Hamilton Southeastern) and freshman Elliot Dozeman (Holland, Michigan / West Ottawa), 6-4.

In singles, Hope took the second, third, fifth and sixth flights.

At No. 1 singles, Nugent lost to Lisann, 4-6, 7-6 (4), 7-5.

At No. 2 singles, Curley topped Margain, 6-1, 7-6 (5).

At No. 3 singles, Schneider defeated Makada, 6-3, 7-6 (5).

At No. 4 singles, Doden lost to Brose, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.

At No. 5 singles, Becksvoort beat Olivet Faranda, 0-6, 6-2, 6-0.

At No. 6 singles, freshman Karsten Patel (Birmingham, Michigan / Birmingham Seaholm) downed Knijnenburg, 6-2, 6-2.

Against Case Western Reserve, the Flying Dutchmen picked up their point at No. 5 singles.
