No. 3 ACHA Men's Hockey Scores 23 Goals, Sweeps Trine

The third-ranked Hope College men's hockey team skated to 12-0 and 11-1 victories against Trine University over the weekend.

The Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference West Division champion Flying Dutchmen improved their overall record to 26-3-1.

On Friday, three Flying Dutchmen each recorded two-goal games during a 12-0 victory at Griff's IceHouse West: junior center Jake Onstott (Zeeland, Michigan / Grand Rapids Catholic Central HS), sophomore right wing Brady Breit (Byron Center, Michigan / Byron Center) and freshman left wing Cade Pratt (Byron Center, Michigan / Byron Center).

Onstott also finished with a game-high four assists. Pratt had two assists.

Senior goalie Maclane Schick (Kohler, Wisconsin / Kohler) posted Hope's 10th shutout of the season with 11 saves.

On Saturday, Pratt and freshman center Ryan Jaros (Portage, Michigan / Portage Central) led a balanced Flying Dutchmen attack with two goals apiece.

Freshman goalie Sebastian Wigfield (Blue Hill, Maine / Saint Ignatius College Prep) stopped 15 shots.

Hope closes the regular season on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 21-22, with a series against the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.

The Flying Dutchmen drew a first-round bye for the MCHC Vezina Cup Playoffs and will play in a quarterfinal on Saturday, March 1, at a time to be determined against the lowest remaining seed at Patterson Ice Arena in Grand Rapids.
