No. 18/22 Women's Basketball Downs Adrian, Collars Rebound Win

The nationally-ranked Hope College women's basketball team fetched an 88-63 victory at Adrian College on Wednesday night. 

The Flying Dutch hounded their opponent from start to finish, using big first and third quarters to seize control.

Hope (20-4, 13-2 MIAA) hit the 20-win mark for the 26th time in head coach Brian Morehouse's 29 seasons as head coach.

The Orange and Blue wasted no time asserting dominance against the Bulldogs, racing out to a 15-3 lead to open the game and finishing the first quarter with a commanding 27-9 advantage.

The Flying Dutch extend their lead 70-44 with a 25-point third quarter.

Senior Olivia Bellows (Lake City, Michigan / Lake City HS) led the Orange and Blue with a game-high 21 points, shooting 57.1% from the field (8-14) and beyond the arc (4-7). 

Freshman Maddie Petroelje (Hudsonville, Michigan / Hudsonville) added 14 points, knocking down four 3-pointers while also grabbing a team-high five rebounds. 

Senior Courtney Lee (Fishers, Indiana / Heritage Christian) also grabbed five rebounds against Adrian. 

Sophomore Terin Maynard (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Jenison) chipped in 13 points along with a game-high and career-high nine assists.

Junior Sydney Vis (Byron Center, Michigan / South Christian) contributed 12 points, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. 

Hope — ranked No. 18 by D3hoops.com and No. 22 by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association — hits the court again on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 5 p.m. hosting Alma College at DeVos Fieldhouse for Senior Day.

It is also a White Out for the women's and men's doubleheader with free T-shirts to the first 2,000 fans, sponsored by LVZ Financial Planning. The Flying Dutchmen play Albion College on Saturday at 3 p.m.
