The Hope College men's tennis team lost to unbeaten Davenport University, 9-0, on Friday at DeWitt Tennis Center.
The NCAA Division II Panthers won all nine flights and dropped the Flying Dutchmen to 0-3 on the season.
In doubles play, sophomore Ned Curley (Plymouth, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central HS) and senior
Austin Becksvoort (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian) fell at the No. 1 flight, 6-3, to Davenport's Daniel Calver and Jan Stolin.
At No. 2 doubles, sophomore Cooper Nugent (Rochester Hills, Michigan / Rochester Adams) and sophomore Alec Maynard (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) lost, 6-2, to Carlos Henriquez and Jaden Bender.
At No. 3 doubles, freshman Elliot Dozeman (Holland, Michigan / West Ottawa) and sophomore Paul Schneider (Fishers, Indiana / Hamilton Southeastern) dropped a 6-4 match to Jose Brenes Villareal and Rudiger Dusselberg.
In singles, Nugent lost the No. 1 flight, to Stolin, 6-3, 6-0.
At No. 2 singles, Curley fell to Calver, 6-4, 6-1.
At No. 3 singles, Schneider lost to Reuben Bakker, 6-0, 6-1.
At No. 4 singles, sophomore Rylan Doden (Fort Wayne, Indiana Blackhawk Christian) fell to Bender, 6-3, 6-3.
At No. 5 singles, Becksvoort lost to Dusselberg, 6-4, 6-2.
At No. 6 singles, freshman Karsten Patel (Birmingham, Michigan / Birmingham Seaholm) fell to Brenes Villareal, 6-2, 6-2.
Hope's next two matches are on Saturday, Feb. 15: 11 a.m. at fourth-ranked Case Western Reserve University (Ohio) and 3 p.m. at Oberlin College (Ohio).
