The Hope College men's tennis team secured back-to-back victories by topping Lake Forest College (Illinois), 5-2, on Friday near Chicago.
The Flying Dutchmen, who upped their record to 2-4, won two doubles flights and four singles flights.
At No. 1 singles, sophomore Cooper Nugent (Rochester Hills, Michigan / Rochester Adams HS) rallied for a 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 victory against George Ciuca.
At No. 2 singles, sophomore Ned Curley (Plymouth, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) lost, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6, to Bernado Aguiar.
At No. 3 singles, sophomore Paul Schneider (Fishers, Indiana / Hamilton Southeastern) fell, 6-7, 7-5, 6-2, to Felipe Moraes.
At No. 4 singles, sophomore Rylan Doden (Fort Wayne, Indiana Blackhawk Christian) defeated Daniel Tulchinsky, 6-2, 6-3.
At No. 5 singles, senior Austin Becksvoort (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian) served up a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 comeback victory against Felipe Vazsonyi.
At No. 6 singles, freshman Karsten Patel (Birmingham, Michigan / Birmingham Seaholm) earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Kyle Lassen.
Hope won the first and third flights to claim the doubles point.
At No. 1 doubles, Curley and Becksvoort topped Moraes and Tulchinsky, 7-5.
At No. 2 doubles, Nugent and sophomore Alec Maynard (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) lost, 6-3, to Aguira and Ciuco.
At No. 3 doubles, Schneider and freshman Elliot Dozeman (Holland, Michigan / West Ottawa) won, 6-1, against Lassen and Vazsonyi.
Hope returns to the court on Saturday, March 1, with two matches: 8:45 a.m. Central at Carthage College (Wisconsin) and 6 p.m. Central at North Central College.
