Women's Lacrosse Rolls at Saint Mary's, Later Earns MIAA Title Share

Hope goes for an outright title on Thursday, April 24, at 7 p.m. at Calvin

The Hope College women's lacrosse team earned at least a share of an unprecedented third consecutive MIAA regular-season title on Tuesday.

First, the Flying Dutch took care of the business in the afternoon with a 22-4 victory at Saint Mary's College.

Then, in the evening, third-place Trine University won a 9-8 thriller at second-place Calvin University to hand the Knights their first league loss and give Hope a piece of the championship. Trine scored the game-winning goal with five seconds remaining.

The Orange and Blue hold a one-game lead over Calvin with one game remaining on Thursday, April 24, at 7 p.m. at Calvin. The Hope-Calvin winner claims the No. 1 seed for the MIAA Tournament.

At Saint Mary's, the Flying Dutch jumped out to an 8-0 lead and shut out a league opponent in the first quarter for the fourth consecutive time.

The 22 goals marked Hope's second 20-goal of the season, following a 24-1 victory at Alma College on April 12.
