Football Places 14 on the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society

The MIAA-champion Hope College football team is well-represented on the 2025 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society with 14 selections: Nominated by their respective FBS, FCS, Division II, Division III or NAIA programs, members of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society must meet one of the following criteria:
  • be a senior player graduating this spring/summer who completed his final year of playing eligibility in 2024; or
  • be a graduated player or grad transfer who has already earned a bachelor's degree and competed in the 2024 season (even if the player has remaining eligibility and may return to play next season);
and must have:
  • attained a minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.2 (4.0 scale); and
  • been starters or contributors throughout the 2024 season.
A record 2,536 players from 341 schools qualified for membership in 2025, marking the largest class in the program's 19-year history.
The Flying Dutchmen recorded their first 10-0 regular season and reached the third round of the NCAA Division III playoffs for the first time.
Ackermann (East Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids HS) was a communication major. The All-MIAA Second Team selection totaled 41 tackles in 12 games this season, including three sacks.

Bovia (Byron Center, Michigan / Byron Center) was a biochemistry and molecular biology major who started all 12 games and helped Hope average 508 yards of total offense and 42.75 points per game.


Clem (Stevensville, Michigan / Lakeshore) was a civil engineering major who started all 12 games. The American Football Coaches Association Second Team and
D3football.com Third Team All-American was also selected to the D3football All-Region and All-MIAA First Teams.

Cochran (Zeeland, Michigan / Zeeland East) was a business and communication major. The D3football All-Region Second Team and All-MIAA First Team recipient recorded a career-high 44 tackles in 2024.

Costa (Macomb, Michigan / Dakota) was an exercise science major who averaged a career-best 37.3 yards per punt this season.


Debri (DeWitt, Michigan / DeWitt) was a biology major who earned All-MIAA First Team honors and collected 52 tackles in 12 games after returning from an injury that had sidelined him during the 2023 season.


Hansen (Wyoming, Michigan / South Christian) was a civil engineering major who set career-highs in 2024 with 35 tackles with two interceptions.


Holtzer (Okemos, Michigan / Okemos) was a business major who garnered All-MIAA First Team recognition in 2024 and recorded career-highs in receiving yards (1,052), receptions (42) and touchdown catches (33).


Luhmann (Rochester, Michigan / Stoney Creek) was a mathematics major who received multiple postseason honors after collecting a career-best 87 tackles last season: Associated Press All-America First Team, D3football All-Region, MIAA Most Valuable Defensive Player and All-MIAA First Team.


Marsh (Montague, Michigan / Montague) was a special education major who started all 12 games and made the D3football All-Region First Team and All-MIAA First Team.


Palmer (Fort Wayne, Indiana / Homestead) was a history, religion and political science major who totaled 22 tackles and his first career interception while playing in 10 games.


Smith (Rochester Hills, Michigan / Stoney Creek) was a social studies composite major who played in 10 games last season.


Stezowski (Holland, Michigan / Hamilton) was a business major who recorded 47 tackles in 12 games in 2024.


Wellman (Bloomington, Illinois / Bloomington) was an exercise science major who set career-highs in passing yards (2,197), completions (137), passing touchdowns (22), rushing yards (593), rushing attempts (67) and rushing touchdowns (9) last season.
