Women's Lacrosse Returning to Ohio for the NCAA Division III Tournament

The MIAA champion Flying Dutch will play at The College of Wooster in the first round

A historic season for the Hope College women's lacrosse team will continue this week in Ohio at a familiar place.

The Flying Dutch, the MIAA's first to win three consecutive regular-season championships, will open the 47-team NCAA Division III Tournament at The College of Wooster on Friday, May 9, at 3 p.m.

Hope, which equaled the program best in wins with a 13-5 overall record, is part a three-team pod at Wooster, which is located outside of Akron, Ohio.

The Flying Dutch lost to Wooster, 16-8, on March 1 in the second game of the season.

The first-round winner will play The University of Chicago in the second round on Saturday, May 10, at 3 p.m.

Ticket prices are $6 for adults, $3 for senior citizens (62 and older), $3 for students, and $2 for children ages 3-12. Children 2-and-under are free. Wooster accepts cash and credit card, and ticket sales will start 90 minutes prior to opening draw.

Hope advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in program history — and for the third consecutive season — by winning the MIAA Tournament last week.

The Flying Dutch scored 21 goals in both the semifinals and finals, defeating second-seeded Trine University, 21-5, in the championship game at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.

Hope is the second team in MIAA history to earn the MIAA Tournament crown in three consecutive seasons.
