Football Ranked 20th in D3football.com Preseason Top 25

The Hope College football team is ranked 20th in the D3football.com Preseason Top 25.

The defending MIAA champions totaled 174 points in the poll, which is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, sports information directors and media members from across the country. The poll is published weekly throughout the season.


North Central College (Illinois), last season's national champion, topped the preseason rankings with 24 first-place votes and 616 points.


The Flying Dutchmen are coming off a historic 2024 season.


Hope posted a school-record 11 wins in 12 games, including the program's first NCAA Division III playoff victory and an unbeaten 7-0 record in MIAA play. The Flying Dutchmen advanced to the third round of the playoffs before falling at North Central, 41-21, and finished 14th in the final D3football.com Top 25.


Head coach Peter Stuursma, a 1993 Hope graduate, enters his ninth season leading his alma mater. He has guided the team to a 65-18 overall record (.783), a 43-8 mark in MIAA games (.843), and three MIAA titles.

 

Season Kicks off Sept. 6, Home Opener Sept. 20


The Flying Dutchmen will play five home games at Ray and Sue Smith Stadium this season and five road games.


Season tickets are on sale for $50 and can be purchased online at any time, or during regular business hours by phone at (616) 395-7890 or in person at the Hope College Ticket Office, 100 E. Eighth St.


Hope kicks off the season on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Loras College (Iowa).


The Flying Dutchmen's home opener is Saturday, Sept. 20, at 1 p.m. against Mount St. Joseph University (Ohio), a 2024 playoff team, at Ray and Sue Smith Stadium.


Hope will also host Calvin University for the first time on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m. The Flying Dutchmen won last season's inaugural meeting, 38-7, at Grand Rapids Christian High School.
