Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Alan Babbitt

Men's Soccer Edged by Milwaukee School of Engineering

The Hope College men's soccer battled until the final horn, but could not overcome an early goal and lost to visiting Milwaukee School of Engineering, 1-0, on Saturday in front of a Van Andel Soccer Stadium crowd of 558.

The Flying Dutchmen, who defeated Ohio Wesleyan University, 3-0, at home on Friday, fell to 1-1 this season.

MSOE, which won at Calvin University, 5-1, on Friday, improved to 2-0.

The Raiders jumped ahead 4 ½ minutes into the game. Forward Nico Picha sprinted up the right side of the field before launching an 18-yard blast from the right corner of the field into the upper left corner of the net.

Hope created several chances for an equalizer as the game progressed but could not convert. The Orange and Blue finished with a 19-4 edge in shots but only five were on net.

MSOE goalkeeper Asher Harris recorded five saves. Hope goalie Cooper Hutt (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) stopped three shots.

The Flying Dutchmen aim to rebound on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. Central at Illinois Tech.
