Football Moves Up Again in AFCA and D3football National Polls

The Hope College football team continued to rise in the national rankings this week, moving up to 15th in both the American Football Coaches Association and D3football polls.

The 2-0 Flying Dutchmen moved up in the rankings after winning at Franklin College (Indiana), 38-14, on Saturday.

Led by head coach Peter Stuursma, Hope has outscored opponents by a combined 100-14 margin this season and outgained them in total offense 1,167 yards to 477.

The Flying Dutchmen are ranked among the NCAA Division III leaders in three categories:
  • 5th in total offense at 583.5 yards per game;
  • 9th in scoring offense at 50.0 points per game;
  • T-15th in scoring defense at 7.0 points per game.
Hope's next game is the home opener on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 1 p.m. against 1-1 Mount St. Joseph University (Ohio) at Ray and Sue Smith Stadium. Mount St. Joseph was edged, 35-28, by Aurora University (Illinois) on Saturday.

The game is part of the Hope Athletics Orange and Blue Weekend on campus. Purchase one ticket for $18 for admission to the football game, the men's soccer home game on Friday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m., and the women's soccer home game on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 4 p.m.
