Senior
Klay Redman's sizzling start to the season powered the Hope College men's golf team to a tie for third place at the 19-team Aurora University (Ill.) Double Gun on Tuesday.
Redman (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Coffman) finished at 2-under 142 over 36 holes, carding rounds of 70 and 72 at Aurora Country Club to place fourth individually, three strokes behind medalist Caleb Negley of Aurora. The field featured 104 golfers.
Hope posted team rounds of 301 and 299 for a 600 total, trailing only No. 10 Aurora's top group (285-288—573) and Wisconsin-Stout (301-287—588). Aurora's B team also shot 600 (303-297).
The Flying Dutchmen recorded the best finish among the three MIAA teams in the field, four strokes ahead of Trine University and 10 ahead of Calvin University. Trine, Hope and Calvin topped the MIAA preseason coaches poll.
