2025-26 Men's Golf Preview

The Hope College men's golf team is lining up for a shot at a fourth consecutive MIAA championship.

The Flying Dutchmen will rely on a mix of veterans and newcomers during the 2025-26 season that begins this fall.

Hope, which tied for 31st place at the NCAA Division III Championships in May, has head coach Scott Lokers feeling optimistic.

"I love this team already," Lokers said. "We're weighted on both ends in terms of class and structure. We have three seniors and four freshmen. We have some great experience on the top end, and it's been a long time since we've had four freshmen on the roster. All of them are new to college golf, but not to tournament golf. I'm excited to get to know them better.
We've been focused on getting to know each other. We're having fun."

Roster

The Flying Dutchmen's nine-player roster features three seniors, one junior, one sophomore and four freshmen.

Hope returns three of four All-MIAA selections from last season, including first-teamer and senior
Liam Casey (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central HS).

Casey, a three-time All-MIAA honoree, finished 108 holes of MIAA play with a 72.17 stroke average, the second lowest in the league.

Senior
Patrick Michael (Carmel, Indiana / Carmel) and sophomore Will Thomas (Portage, Michigan / Portage Central) were All-MIAA second-team selections last spring.

Senior
Klay Redman (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Coffman) and junior Hank Roebuck (Ann Arbor, Michigan / Skyline) also return.

The freshman class includes
Landon Bergman (Zeeland, Michigan / Holland Christian), Joey Blandia (Richland, Michigan / Gull Lake), Kody Vis (Spring Lake, Michigan / Spring Lake) and Eli Voisard (Tipp City, Ohio / Tippecanoe).

Schedule

The Flying Dutchmen are scheduled to play seven events this fall, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 7:45 a.m. Central with the 36-hole Aurora University Double Gun at Aurora Country Club.

Hope will also compete in two more nonconference tournaments:
  • Sept. 8-9 (Monday-Tuesday): hosted by Carthage College at Ives Golf Links in Yorkville, Wisconsin, and Strawberry Creek Country Club
  • Oct. 6-7 (Monday-Tuesday): hosted by Wabash College at Broadmoor Country Club in Indianapolis
MIAA play begins Monday, Sept. 15, at 11 a.m. at Marshall Country Club in Marshall. The Flying Dutchmen will compete in four league events that will determine the MIAA champion. The final 36 holes are scheduled for next spring.

"I'm really pleased with our schedule," Lokers said. "All of them are great golf courses. We're going to play some Top 10 Division III teams. It will be fun to see how we fit in the national picture. Our first priority is the league."
