The Hope College men's tennis team concluded fall play Friday at the ITA Central Regional, hosted by Kalamazoo College, delivering composed performances and competitive results in what marked a strong showing.
Junior Ned Curley (Plymouth, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central HS) advanced through the Round of 128 with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 win over Alma College's Eli Festerling.Â
Curley's run ended in the next round with a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Andreas Chapides of Denison University.
Junior Cooper Nugent (Rochester Hills, Michigan / Rochester Adams) also earned a first-round singles victory, defeating Dreek Saha of Earlham College 6-2, 6-4.
Nugent fell in the next round to Kenyon College's Alejandro Gonzalez, 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles action, Nugent teamed up with junior Alec Maynard (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) for an 8-3 win over North Central College's Rafael Lessa and Phillip Wottgen in the Round of 128.Â
The duo dropped their next match to Case Western Reserve University's Leon Chen and Jon Totorica, 8-4.
Hope returns to the court on Friday, Feb. 6, at Ohio Northern University.Â
