Men's Tennis Ties for Second in MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll

The Hope College men's tennis team tied for second place in the 2026 MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll.

The Flying Dutchmen totaled 40 points, matching with Calvin University, which received one first-place vote.

Both teams trailed Kalamazoo College, which received all seven possible first-place votes and earned a total of 49 points. Coaches could not vote for their teams.

Hope and Calvin placed ahead of Trine University (27), Adrian College (24), Alma College (19), Albion College (18) and The University of Olivet (8).

The Flying Dutchmen bring back three All-MIAA Honorees: Cooper Nugent, Ned Curley, and Paul Schneider.

Nugent (Rochester Hills, Michigan / Rochester Adams) leads the way. The junior earned All-MIAA First Team honors last season after posting a 5-2 record at No. 1 singles in league matches.

Curley (Plymouth, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) returns as a junior after claiming All-MIAA Second Team honoree last season with a 5-2 record at No. 2 singles in conference play.

Schneider (Fishers, Indiana/ Hamilton Southeastern) is a two-time All-MIAA returner who finished as an All-MIAA Second Team in 2025 after recording a 6-1 mark at No. 3 singles against MIAA opponents.

Head coach Austin Hunt is in his fifth season.

The Flying Dutchmen start their spring season on Friday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. at Ohio Northern University.
