Hope came out with a sharp, early rhythm against Oberlin College on Saturday night at DeWitt Tennis Center
Ultimately, Oberlin swung the pendulum the other way, taking the match from the Flying Dutchmen, 4-3.
Hope moves to 4-3 on the season, and looks ahead to a Texas trip featuring three more non-conference matchups. The Flying Dutchmen take on Howard Payne University on Thursday, March 5 at 2 p.m. central.
Against Oberlin, Hope's scoring came from a strong doubles start and two composed singles victories.
The Orange and Blue claimed two of the three doubles courts, with decisive wins at No. 1 and No. 3 giving them the early advantage.
In singles, junior Ned Curley (Plymouth, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central HS) delivered a straight-set win at No. 2, and junior Paul Schneider (Fishers, Indiana / Hamilton Southeastern) battled through three sets at No. 6 to secure Hope's final point of the night.
