On home courts, the Hope College men's tennis team concluded the regular season with a win, taking down Albion College 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon for a Senior day celebration.
The team honored lone senior Hunter Napieralski (Chelsea, Michigan / Chelsea HS) before the match.
Hope, now 10-7 overall, finished league play at 5-2, good enough for third place in the MIAA. The Orange and Blue look ahead to the MIAA Tournament which will start next week against an opponent to be determined. The field will be announced after league play concludes on Saturday, April 25.
Against Albion, junior Alec Maynard (Northville, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) and junior Cooper Nugent (Rochester Hills, Michigan / Rochester Adams) edged out a 6-4 win at No. 1, while junior Rylan Doden (Fort Wayne, Indiana / Blackhawk Christian) and junior Paul Schneider (Fishers, Indiana / Hamilton Southeastern) matched that score at No. 2.
Napieralski and sophomore Aiden Sin (Holland, Michigan / Holland) delivered the most decisive doubles result with a 6-1 victory at No. 3.
Hope carried that momentum into singles play without hesitation, tallying straight set victories in five of six flights. Napieralski battled through three sets to seal the sweep at No. 6 with a match tiebreak victory.
