Men's Golf Places Third at MIAA Spring Finale; Scott Lokers Concludes Coaching Career

The Hope College men's golf team shot a final-round 295 on Thursday at Hawkshead Links in South Haven and finished third at the 36-hole MIAA Spring Finale.

The Flying Dutchmen shot a two-day total of 585, trailing first-place Calvin University (576) and second-place Trine University (584).

The tournament was the final event for retiring head coach Scott Lokers after a distinguished nine-season career.

Senior Patrick Michael placed third in the individual standings. The native of Carmel, Indiana (Carmel) finished at 1-under for the tournament, shooting a 1-over-par 73 on Thursday.

Michael placed behind medalist Jack Marzolino of Calvin (6-under) and Ethan Tiller of Calvin (5-under). Calvin clinched the seasonal title and the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championships.

Senior Klay Redman of Dublin, Ohio (Dublin Coffman) led the Flying Dutchmen during Day 2 by firing a 72. He tied for sixth at 1-over.

Senior Liam Casey of Northville, Michigan (Detroit Catholic Central) finished ninth at 2-over following a 75 on Thursday.

Casey and Redman both made the All-MIAA First Team.

Freshman Eli Voisard of Tipp City, Ohio (Tippecanoe) took 13th at 5-over after a second-round 77.

Sophomore Will Thomas of Portage, Michigan (Portage Central) and freshman Joey Blondia of Richland, Michigan (Gull Lake) tied for 18th at 8-over. Thomas, who earned All-MIAA Second Team honors, carded a 75 on Thursday, Blondia a 76.
