Three Named to Division III Academic All-District Baseball Team

The award is selected by the College Sports Communicators Organization

Three Hope College baseball standouts have been chosen for the 2026 Academic All-District Division III Baseball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators: center fielder Jace DeMann, pitcher Avery McEwen, and third baseman Nick Verduzco.

Eligible nominees must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically; have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and have either competed in 90 percent of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games or pitched in 35 innings or made at least 17 appearances.

DeMann started a career-high 39 games this season. The senior neuroscience major from Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian), recorded a career-best 96 putouts with a .980 fielding percentage while hitting .256 with a career-high 30 runs scored.

McEwen pitched a career-best 39.1 innings this season. The sophomore exercise science major from Ann Arbor, Michigan (Pioneer), posted a 2-1 record and a career-best 43 strikeouts over five starts and 10 appearances.

Verduzco started a career-high 36 games this season. The sophomore business major from Kalamazoo, Michigan (Hackett Catholic), set career-best marks with a .292 batting average, 34 runs scored, 26 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases.
