Led by a top-five finish from senior Jaiden Winters, the Hope College women's golf team opened Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play on Monday afternoon with a third-place finish at MIAA Jamboree #1, hosted by Albion College at Marshall Country Club.

The Flying Dutch carded a team score of 326, placing them just one stroke behind host Albion College, who carded a 325, and just seven strokes behind first-place Adrian College.

Winters (New Carlisle, Indiana / New Carlisle HS) paced the Flying Dutch squad, firing a 7-over-par 79 to earn a tied-for-fourth-place finish on the individual leaderboard.

Sophomore Gabby Hanover (Mason, Michigan / Mason) put together a solid performance, tying for 11th overall after shooting an 81.

Senior Allyson Zuidema (Northville, Michigan / Northville) rounded out Hope's top three team scorers with an 82, placing her in a tie for 14th place.

Seniors Kylie Gernaat (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Kalamazoo Christian) and Rachael Jones (Grove City, Ohio / Grove City) rounded out the team scoring, both carding rounds of 84 to share 20th place.

Competing as individuals, sophomore Kennedy Gernaat (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Kalamazoo Christian) joined Zuidema in a tie for 14th place after shooting an 82, while sophomore Leah Krieger (Lowell, Michigan / Lowell Senior) finished tied for 45th with a round of 90.

Hope returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 1 p.m. as the Flying Dutch host MIAA Jamboree #2 at Clearbrook Golf Club.
