The Hope College women's golf team opened the 2026 season with a victory over Calvin University on Tuesday at Clearbrook Golf Course, posting a team score of 319 to defeat the Knights by 14 strokes.
Sophomore Kylie Gernaat (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Kalamazoo Christian) led the Flying Dutch, carding a 4-over 76 to finish as Hope's top individual.
Senior Jaiden Winters (New Carlisle, Indiana / New Prairie)Â followed with a 78, while sophomore Kennedy Gernaat (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Kalamazoo Christian) posted an 81. Sophomore Gabby Hanover (Mason, Michigan / Mason) rounded out Hope's scoring with an 84. Senior Rachael Jones (Grove City, Ohio / Grove City) finished with an 87.
Hope's B group was led by senior Allyson Zuidema (Northville, Michigan / Northville), who shot an 85. Sophomores Leah Krieger (Lowell, Michigan / Lowell) and Jozie Mitran (Libertyville, Illinois / Libertyville) each finished with a 92. A pair of golfers in the B group were unable to complete their round after play was canceled due to rain.
The Flying Dutch return to action Friday-Saturday, Sept. 4-5, at the Carthage College Firebird Fall Invite in Mundelein, Illinois.
