The Hope College women's golf team climbed three spots on the leaderboard during the final day of the Carthage University Firebird Fall Invite, finishing runner-up at the 16-team event after carding a team score of 300 at the Countryside Golf Club on Saturday in Yorkville, Wisconsin.

The Flying Dutch finished with a two-day total of 642, moving from fifth place after Friday's opening round. Aurora University won the tournament with a 36-hole, two-day score of 615. Hope placed one stroke ahead of third-place University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Senior Kylie Gernaat (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Kalamazoo Christian HS) led Hope individually, tying for eighth place at 15-over after shooting a 76 during the final round. 

Senior Rachael Jones (Grove City, Ohio / Grove City) also carded a 74 to tie for 10th at 16-over, while senior Jaiden Winters (New Carlisle, Indiana / New Prairie) shot a 76 to finish tied for 18th at 19-over.

Sophomore Gabby Hanover (Mason, Michigan / Mason) posted a 74 in the final round and tied for 27th at 22-over.

Sophomore Kennedy Gernaat (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Kalamazoo Christian) rounded out Hope's team scoring with an 84 to finish tied for 37th at 26-overl

Senior Allyson Zuidema (Northville, Michigan / Northville) shot an 81 on Tuesday to finish tied for 23rd.

The Flying Dutch return to action on Friday-Saturday, Sept. 11-12, at the Adrian College Irish Hills Invitational at Tecumseh Golf Club.
