The Hope College women's soccer team battled on the road in Virginia before falling to the University of Lynchburg, 2-1, on Friday.
All three goals were scored after halftime.
Senior midfielder
Bri Rose of Hudsonville, Michigan (Unity Christian) gave the Flying Dutch a 1-0 lead during the 54th minute, converting a free kick outside the box.
Hope kept Lynchburg off the board until the 71st minute when Teigan Casey put home a rebound to draw the score even.
In the 83rd minute, Sammie Rogstad buried a free kick for the game-winner.
The Flying Dutch held an 8-7 edge in shots. Senior keeper
Clara Feenstra (Hudsonville, Michigan / Hudsonville) made two saves.
Hope aims to rebound on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 3 p.m. at Roanoke College, the Flying Dutch's second consecutive Old Dominion Athletic Conference opponent.
