Volleyball Falls to Nationally-Ranked Foes in Illinois

The Hope College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to nationally-ranked opponents on Friday at the season-opening Illinois Wesleyan University.

The 17th-ranked Flying Dutch fell to No. 24 Dubuque University in four sets (25-15, 25-14, 22-25, 25-18) and to No. 8 Illinois Wesleyan in three sets (25-18, 25-15, 25-15).

Hope concludes the two-day tournament on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 1 p.m. against Monmouth College (1-1).

The Flying Dutch received 15 kills from sophomore outside hitter Kiera Morrison (Bartlett, Illinois / Wheaton Academy) and 11 from senior middle hitter Kamryn Burbridge (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven).

Sophomore setter Brooke Hehl (Rochester Hills, Michigan / Lutheran West) made 40 assists.
