Dave Gkekas

Dave Gkekas served on the Hope College football program for his two stints, including from 2016 through 2023. He coached cornerbacks.

Previously, Gkekas spent four seasons coaching at Hope and 18 years coaching in the high school ranks.

Gkekas spent two years as the head coach at Wayland Union High School. 

Prior to being named the head coach at Wayland, Gkekas coached at Grandville High School from 1998 to 2008. He spent the last four seasons there as defensive coordinator. While he was defensive coordinator, his defense helped lead the Bulldogs to the 2005 and 2006 OK Red Championships and the MHSAA Division 1 Playoffs seven years in a row, from 2000-2006. During that span, the Bulldogs won eight playoff games and advanced to the state semifinals in 2001 and 2003. 

For the 1996 and 1997 seasons, Gkekas coached at West Ottawa High School. Gkekas started his coaching career at Ann Arbor Pioneer. He graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1996. 

Gkekas lives in Grandville, Michigan. He has a son, Casey.
