Coach Ryan Klingler brings a wealth of experience and passion to his role as a varsity assistant with the Hope College men's basketball team.
With 15 years of varsity high school coaching under his belt, including head coaching stints at Fennville HS and Grandville HS, Coach Klingler has a proven track record of developing talented student-athletes and competitive programs.
Currently teaching at Grandville High School and residing in Holland, Klingler has a deep-rooted connection to Hope College, graduating in 2001. His varsity basketball playing experience at Hope (3 time 1st All-MIAA Honors), coupled with his three seasons as the Hope JV head coach, has instilled in him a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and supporting the growth of student-athletes both on and off the court.
Beyond his coaching responsibilities, Klingler is deeply involved in the community. He serves as the director of the Wes Leonard Heart Team, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to Michigan schools and youth organizations all around the state. This initiative honors the memory of former Fennville student-athlete Wes Leonard, who passed away in 2011 due to cardiac arrest.
When not coaching or serving the community, Klingler enjoys spending time with his family, including his two children, Drew (19) and Gina (18). He also actively helps manage a local restaurant, Baja Grill, with his two younger brothers, Ross and Gary.
