Junior Montana Leep of Hastings (Grand Rapids South Christian HS) carded an 8-over-par 80 on Friday to lead the Hope women's golf team during the opening round of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championship.

Leep is tied for fifth. The final round of the 36-hole event at Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek is Saturday.

Hope sits in fifth place after the first round with a team score of 363. The Flying Dutch trail Olivet (326), Trine (334), Saint Mary's (338) and Calvin (341).

Freshman Elena Moore of South Lyon (South Lyon East HS) added a 93 for Hope, while teammates Mary Bradley of Pierson (Tri County HS) and freshman Dominique Molinaro of Port Huron (Port Huron Northern HS) both shot 95s.
