On a cool, challenging afternoon at Glendarin Hills, Hope College women's golf battled to a fourth-place finish at the Trine University Spring Classic, closing the day with a team score of 338.
The two-day tournament, turned to one-day tournament due to weather, took place on Friday.
The six-team field was topped by Saint Mary's College (307), and saw Trine grab second with a score of 318.
The Flying Dutch placed all five scorers inside the top 20.
Junior Rachael Jones (Grove City, Ohio / Grove City HS) led the way with an 82, earning 9th place and anchoring Hope's scoring with a steady round.
Junior Allyson Zuidema (Northville, Michigan / Northville) and freshman Gabby Hanover (Mason, Michigan / Mason), competing individually, each carded 83 to tie for 11th.
Junior Jaiden Winters (New Carlisle, Indiana / New Prairie) added an 86 for 16th, followed closely by senior Sara Muir (Ada, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) at 87 (17th) and junior Kylie Gernaat (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Kalamazoo Christian) at 88 (18th).
Individual competitor freshman Kennedy Gernaat (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Kalamazoo Christian) rounded out Hope's entries with an 89.
Hope returns to the course to take on the two-day MIAA Spring Finale on Friday-Saturday April 24-25 at the Legacy by Arthur Hills in Ottawa Lake, Michigan.
