The Hope women's basketball team scored a DeVos Fieldhouse record 107 points to remain undefeated on the season Saturday.
Coach Brian Morehouse's Flying Dutch, ranked second this week in NCAA Division III women's basketball poll, topped the visiting Alma Scots 107-61 in their home debut before 915 DeVos Fieldhouse fans.
Hope improved to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) race heading into semester exam week.
The previous mark was 103 points recorded three times, first in a 103-67 win over Adrian in February 2006, the second time in a 103-44 win over Kalamazoo in January, 2008 and most recently in a 103-42 win over Alma in February, 2011. Hope is now 16-3 in games played at DeVos Fieldhouse.
The Flying Dutch set the tone early jumping ahead 11-0 in the first three minutes and setting a fieldhouse first-half scoring mark en route to a 57-30 halftime advantage.
All 14 Hope players scored, 12 had at least one rebound and nine were credited with an assist. The Flying Dutch scored a season-best nine 3-point baskets.
Senior guard Megan Kelley of Rockford (Rockford HS) scored 14 points on 5-for-6 shooting for Hope, while senior Anna Kaufmann of Davenport, Iowa (Davenport Central HS) added 13 points off the bench.
Senior Brittany Berry of Grand Rapids (Catholic Central HS) and Rebekah Llorens of Grayslake, Ill. (Grayslake Central HS) scored 10 points apiece. Sophomore Maura McAfee of Midland (Midland HS) grabbed nine rebounds for Hope.
The Flying Dutch take a week off for semester exams before hosting their own Post-Exam Jam at DeVos Fieldhouse next Friday and Saturday.
