Hope hosting 2013 MIAA Cross Country Championships

Hope College will host the 2013 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships this season.

The eight-team men's and nine-team women's races are set for Saturday, November 2 at West Ottawa Golf Course, which is located north of Holland at U.S. 31 and Port Sheldon Street. Click here for directions.

Hope has used West Ottawa Golf Course for big events previously. The college held the 2010 NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional there, finishing second in the women's race and sixth in the men's race.

Both Hope teams will look to unseat reigning MIAA champions Calvin College. Other teams in the field are Adrian College men and women, Albion College men and women, Alma College men and women, Kalamazoo College men and women, Olivet College men and women, Trine (Ind.) University men and women, and Saint Mary's (Ind.) women.

The MIAA Championships are one of two home events for Hope among its 10 events this season, including the Great Lakes Regional hosted to Calvin College.

Hope opens the season August 31 with the annual Bill Vanderbilt Invitational on the grounds of Ridge Point Church, 340 104th Avenue.

The Flying Dutch will be seeking their fourth consecutive Vanderbilt, while the Flying Dutchmen are aiming for back-to-back championships.
