Two senior players who didn't go far from their hometowns to contribute to the success of the Hope College men's basketball program were named to the 2012-13 all-conference teams of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA).
Foward Nate Snuggerud of Zeeland (Zeeland East HS) has been named to the All-MIAA first team for a second year, while guard Colton Overway of Holland (West Ottawa HS) has received second team recognition.
Two of the co-captains of this year's team, they ranked first and second. A four-year letterwinner, Snuggerud led the team in scoring and rebounding as both a junior and senior and finished his career on the Hope alltime scoring honor roll in 13th place with 1,366 points. He ranked sixth all-time in field goal shooting (.562).
Overway was Hope's playmaker. In addition to scoring in double figures, he was among the MIAA leaders in assists until he suffered a broken foot with three weeks left in the season. A three-year letterwinner, he ended sixth on the Hope alltime list for assists per game.
The Flying Dutchmen finished with an 18-9 overall record, including a 12-2 mark in MIAA play. They finished second in the regular-season standings and reached the title game of the MIAA Tournament before losing. Hope continued its string of winning seasons, a run that started during the 1979-80 season.
