Hope College senior Sheri McCormack of Holland (West Ottawa HS) repeated as women's champion at Hope's 48th annual Vanderbilt Invitational Saturday at Ridge Point Church in Holland Township.
The Flying Dutch also finished first in the team standings. It is Hope's fourth consecutive Vanderbilt team title and 20th overall.
McCormack ran a winning time of 18 minutes, 32 seconds to give Hope the individual women's champion for the fourth consecutive time. It is the seventh time in 10 years the Flying Dutch have claimed the top spot.
Hope totaled 25 points — doubling up second-place Cornerstone University. The rest of the field featured Albion College with 59 points and Muskegon Community College with 18.
Hope also received points from sophomore Casey Campbell of Swartz Creek (Swartz Creek HS) in fourth at 19:01, senior Meredith Busman of Coopersville (Coopersville HS) in fifth at 19:24, junior Emily Wrozek of Clarklake (Hanover-Horton) in seventh at 19:28 and freshman Jessica Gaines of Sterling Heights (Utica Academy) in eighth at 19:32.
