Sheri McCormack clocked the top time for the Hope College women's cross country team at the Michigan State Spartan Invitational Friday in East Lansing.
The senior from Holland (West Ottawa HS) clocked a time of 22 minutes, 11 seconds. It was the 16th fastest out of the 257 non-NCAA Division I runners in the field. There were Division II and III runners as well as ones from NAIA and unattached.
Senior Meredith Busman of Coopersville (Coopersville HS) took 30th with a time of 22:43, while freshman Erin Herrmann of Wheaton, Ill. (Wheaton-Warrenville South HS) came in 36th at 22:56.
Eight other Hope runners finished in the top 80 — sophomore Michelle Kerr of Dearborn (Divine Child HS) in 30th at 22:59), senior Camille Borst of Allendale (Allendale HS) at 43rd at 23:00, senior Katie Carlson of Rockford (Rockford HS) at 46th at 23:02), freshman Jessica Gaines of Sterling Heights (Utica Academy) in 55th at 23:12, sophomore Casey Campbell of Swartz Creek (Swartz Creek HS) in 59th at 23:16), freshman Courtney Myers of East Lansing (Lansing Christian HS) in 67th at 23:24, junior Emily Wrozek of Clark Lake (Hanover-Horton) in 72nd at 23:27) and freshman Emily Joosse of Chillicothe, Ohio (Zane Trace) in 78that 23:39).
