Five of the fastest 11 times sent the nationally ranked Hope women's cross country team to a second-place finish at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree Saturday hosted by Adrian.
Coach Mark Northuis' Flying Dutch scored 40 points to finish only behind defending league champion Calvin, which had 18. The jamboree counts one-third toward the overall MIAA championship.
Senior co-captain Sheri McCormack of Holland (West Ottawa HS) topped Hope by recording a runner-up time of 22 minutes, 50 seconds at Lenawee Country Club.
The Flying Dutch are ranked 19th in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division III cross country poll.
Hope also received points from sophomore Casey Campbell of Swartz Creek (Swartz Creek HS), pictured at right, in eighth at 23:23, senior co-captain Camille Borst of Allendale (Allendale HS) in ninth at 23:23, senior Katie Carlson of Rockford (Rockford HS) in 10th at 23:38 and sophomore Michelle Kerr of Dearborn (Divine Child HS) in 11th at 23:39.
