The Hope men's basketball team wraps up nonleague play on Saturday when it hosts Edgewood (Wis.). Tipoff is 7 p.m. at DeVos Fieldhouse.
This is the first time Hope and Edgewood have played each other. Edgewood is a member of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.
The Flying Dutchmen enter tonight's game with a 5-5 record. They are coming off an unbeaten performance earlier this week at the Coach Connor Classic at Thomas More (Ky.) College. Hope beat Centre (Ky.) 75-68 on Monday and Thomas More 83-80 on Tuesday.
Hope is led by sophomore point guard Ben Gardner of Carmel, Ind. (Carmel HS), who is tied for seventh in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association at 14.2 points per game.
Sophomore guard Alex Eidson of Grand Haven (Grand Haven HS) also is scoring in double figures for Hope at 12.2 points per game.
Edgewood brings a 6-5 overall record to DeVos.
The Eagles share two common opponents with Hope — top- ranked Wisconsin-Stevens Point and No. 12-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater. Hope lost to Whitewater 83-70 on Nov. 20 and Stevens Point 82-62 on Nov. 21, while Edgewood lost to Stevens Point 80-45 on Nov. 18 and Whitewater 85-53 on Dec. 30.
Edgewood features three double-digit scorers, led by forward Justin Williams. The 6-5 senior is averaging 10.8 points per game.
Junior forward Joe Klocek (6-5) is producing 10.7 points per game for the Eagles, while junior guard Dylan Rusch (6-2) is scoring 10.0 points per game. Sophomore guard Emilio Lopez is close to double figures at 9.7 points per game.
