The Hope College women's cross country team came in 16th place at the 42-team Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational on Saturday. The Flying Dutch recorded a score of 457 points.
Junior Julia Stock of Spring Lake, Michigan (Grand Haven HS), led Hope with a 60th-place, 6K run of 22 minutes, 31 seconds.
Junior Michelle Kerr of Dearborn, Michigan (Divine Child HS), finished six seconds behind Stock in 67th place. Kerr is pictured at right.
Sophomore Emily Joosse of Chillicothe, Ohio (Zane Trace HS), took 90th in 22:54.
Senior Katie Afton of Portage, Michigan (Portage Central HS), placed 113th in 23:10.
Freshman Rachael Webb of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS), rounded out the Flying Dutch's scoring in 127th at 23:22.
Others to race for Hope were sophomore Erin Herrmann of Wheaton, Illinois (Wheaton-Warrenville South HS), in 134th at 23:27 and senior Emily Wrozek of Clarklake, Michigan (Hanover-Horton HS), in 141st at 23:33.
NCAA Division II powerhouse Grand Valley State University won with 40 points.
Hope returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships hosted by Calvin College.
