Hope Women's Golf Edges Olivet For Fourth MIAA Jamboree Victory

The Hope College women's golf team is poised to make a clean sweep of Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play this fall.

The Flying Dutch won their fourth league jamboree in as many tries Saturday, taking first with a score of 340 at Lenawee Country Club in Adrian. They finished two strokes ahead of runner-up Olivet and moved 48 strokes ahead of Olivet in the overall standings.

Junior Morgan Leep of Hastings, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS), led Hope by tying for third with an 82. Leep is pictured at right.

Sophomore Britni Gielow of Norton Shores, Michigan (Mona Shores HS), chipped in a sixth-place 84.

Freshmen Megan Klintworth of Jackson, Michigan (Hanover-Horton HS), and Nicole Meyer of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton HS), rounded out the Flying Dutch's scoring by both carding 87s. They tied for 10th.

Senior Montana Leep of Hastings, Michigan (South Christian HS), shot an 88 and tied for 12th.

Hope can secure its sixth MIAA championship all-time at its next event — the 36-hole, two-day tournament at Bedford Valley Country Club on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 10-11.
