Box Score A game-high 17 points from center Rebekah Llorens powered the nationally ranked Hope College women's basketball team to a 77-43 win against Defiance (Ohio) in the title game of the Hope Tipoff Tournament.
The Flying Dutch, No. 4 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division III poll, improved to 3-0 overall with their second win in as many nights.
Llorens, a senior from Grayslake, Illinois (Grayslake Central HS), made the five-player, all-tournament team along with teammates Maura McAfee and Brittany Berry.
McAfee, a junior from Midland, Michigan (Midland HS), added 14 points, a game-high nine rebounds, six steals, two blocked shots and two steals. She was named Tournament MVP.
Berry, a senior from Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grand Rapids HS), chipped in nine points on 3-of-5 3-point shooting. She now has 154 career 3-pointers in 94 games, tying her for fourth all-time with the Flying Dutch with Liz Ellis (2009-13), who played in 121 games.
Sophomore Mandy Traversa of Winfield, Illinois (Wheaton North HS), also scored nine points for the Flying Dutch.
Hope built a 38-17 halftime lead by outscoring the YellowJackets (1-3) by a 28-7 margin over the final 11 minutes, 40 seconds.
Otterbein, Ohio, defeated Pittsburgh-Bradford 75-66 in the consolation game.
Defiance's Megan Zachrich and Otterbein's Chelsea Reed also made the all-tournament team.
Hope returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 25, when the Flying Dutch host 19th-ranked Wheaton (Illinois).
