Hope Men's Basketball Routs Pitt.-Greensburg, To Play For Sentinel/DeVette Title

The Hope College men's basketball team raced past Pittsburgh-Greensburg 121-73 on Friday during the Holland Sentinel/Russ DeVette Classic and set a DeVos Fieldhouse record for points in a game.

The Flying Dutchmen improved to 4-3 overall by matching the 10th-highest scoring game in team history.

Hope will play Mount Union (Ohio) for the tournament championship on Saturday, Dec. 20, at 3 p.m.

Freshman guard Dante Hawkins of Holland, Michigan (Holland HS), scored a career-high 21 points to lead the Flying Dutchmen, winners of three in a row.

Six Hope players finished in double figures.

Sophomore forward Harrison Blackledge of Canton, Ohio (Hoover HS), chipped in 14 points.

Junior guard Alex Eidson of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven HS), and junior forward Sam Otto of Wheaton, Illinois (Wheaton North HS), netted 11 apiece.

Sophomore guard Chad Carlson of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford HS), and sophomore forward Keith Brushwyler of St. Joseph, Michigan (Stevensville-Lakeshore HS), scored 10 points apiece. Brushwyler matched his career-high.

It was the 148th time Hope had reached the 100-point mark. The Flying Dutchmen own a 145-3 record in such games.

Hope's 66 second-half points was the most ever by the Flying Dutchmen in any half at DeVos Fieldhouse.

Hope collected a season-high 29 assists on 39 baskets.

The Flying Dutchmen also went 14-of-24 from 3-point range (58.3 percent) to come within one of matching the DeVos Fieldhouse record for 3-pointers made in a single game.

Mount Union defeated Olivet 77-48 in Friday's opener for the Raiders' fifth consecutive win. 

Jarrett Ruffin's game-high 17 points led Mount Union (6-2), which led 54-17 at halftime.
