The Hope College men's basketball team is aiming for its 12th Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament championship today at DeVos Fieldhouse. Tipoff against Calvin College is 3 p.m.
This is the Flying Dutchmen's 15th appearance in a MIAA Tournament championship game. Hope is a league-best 11-3 all-time in title games, including an 8-2 mark against Calvin in those contests. The Knights won last season's meeting 77-57 for their ninth league tournament championship.
Hope leads the all-time series with Calvin 98-89. The Flying Dutchmen won both regular-season meetings this season en route to their 37th regular-season MIAA championships and 31st outright. Hope is 10-4 against Calvin in MIAA Tournament play since the event began in 1992.
Today's winner will receive the MIAA's bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The field will be
announced on Monday, March 3, at 12:30 p.m. The NCAA pairings show will be streamed live at the Hope Hoops Club luncheon on Monday at the Maas Center on campus. Men's coach Matt Neil and women's coach Brian Morehouse both will discuss their teams during the
luncheon. Admission is $9.75 per person. No advance registration is needed.

Hope has won 10 of 14 meetings against Calvin at DeVos Fieldhouse, where the Flying Dutchmen began playing during the 2005-06 season. Hope won the first meeting 73-55 and again that season in an NCAA Division III tournament game 70-67.
The Flying Dutchmen have won 27 regular-season MIAA titles since Calvin began as a member of the MIAA in time for the 1953-54 season. Calvin has won 30 MIAA championships during that time.
Hope was the first team to score 100 points, winning 100-90 in 1954. The most points was by
Calvin with a 105-71 win in 1964. There has not been a 100-point game since 1972, when Calvin recorded a 102-89 win.
