Flying Dutchmen Down Millsaps For Season's First Win

Box Score

Caleb Digison made his season debut with the Hope College men's lacrosse team a memorable one.

The junior from Midland (Midland HS) scored seven goals to key the Flying Dutchmen's 14-6 win at Millsaps (Miss.) on Monday. It was Hope's first win this season in four games.

Digison joined the team after playing with the men's hockey team in the American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 3 playoffs last week in Coral Springs, Fla.

"Just an unbelievable effort on his part," Hope coach Michael Schanhals said. "He's a difference maker."

Hope's offense also received a spark from senior Niko Pagkanlungan of Naples, Fla. (Barron Collier HS), senior Jacob Kamstra of Zeeland (Zeeland East HS) and freshman Gunnar Elder of East Grand Rapids (East Grand Rapids HS), Schanhals said.

The Flying Dutchmen led 9-1 at halftime.

Freshman goalie Connor Miedema of Holland (Holland Christian) earned his first collegiate win by playing the first three periods. Senior Matthew Folkert of Holland (Holland HS) played the final period.

"It was a good team win for us," Schanhals said. "We did well on ground balls. We ran our sets. We had great looks."
