Makenzie Bortell

Senior midfielder Makenzie Bortell of Montague (Montague HS) scored three goals to lead the Hope College women's lacrosse team to a 12-8 win against visiting Olivet College on Thursday at Van Andel Stadium.

The Flying Dutch improved to 4-5 overall and evened their Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association record at 2-2.

Sophomore attack Emily Oliver of Springfield, Va. (Annandale HS), and sophomore attack Abigale Cassella of Okemos (Okemos HS) added two goals apiece for Hope as the Flying Dutch received goals from eight different players.

Hope never trailed after jumping out to a 7-1 halftime lead.

Sophomore Goalie Racquel Harrouk of Grosse Pointe Woods (Grosse Pointe North HS) made 13 saves for the Flying Dutch.
