Box Score 2 The Hope College baseball team dropped games of 4-2 and 9-4 at Albion College on Saturday.
The Flying Dutchmen fell to 14-16 overall and 10-10 in MIAA play. They slipped into fourth place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association standings.
Centerfielder Tim Bodine of Gurnee, Ill. (Warren Township HS), and leftfielder Josh Kranz of Carpentersville, Ill. (Jacobs HS) both had two hits for Hope in Game 1. Kranz and catcher Eric Vachon of Sterling Heights (De La Salle Collegiate) had RBI singles in the fifth inning.
The Flying Dutchmen could not overcome a 3-0 Albion lead after the bottom the fourth.
In Game 2, Albion snapped a 2-2 tie with a seven-run fifth.
First baseman Ben Pearson of Madison, Wis. (West HS), finished with two RBIs to top Hope. Designated hitter Alex Arthurs of Holland (West Ottawa HS) led the Flying Dutchmen with two hits.
