Hope College's Michael Schofield has been picked Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week in men's lacrosse for matches played through April 26.
The senior from Mendham, New Jersey (Mendham HS), won 59 percent of his faceoffs (32 of 54), scooped up 26 ground balls and caused four turnovers in leading the Flying Dutchmen to a pair of wins to close out their season.
Schofield went 14-of-22 on faceoffs, picked up 11 ground balls and added two goals and an assist in a 23-3 win over Calvin.
Schofield won 18-of-28 faceoffs and added 15 ground balls in a 14-11 win over Trine.
Schofield is being honored as MIAA Player of the Week for the first time this season and third time in his career.
