Hope College's Jane Pearson finished 18th in the heptathlon at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday in Delaware, Ohio.

The sophomore from Lake City, Michigan (Northern Michigan Christian HS), totaled 4,320 points over seven events. It was her first appearance at nationals.

On Friday, Pearson, pictured. went 15 feet and ¾ inches in the long jump, threw the javelin 98 feet, 4 inches in the javelin and clocked an 800-meter time of 2 minutes, 34.31 seconds.

On Saturday, senior Sheri McCormack of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS), will compete in the 1,500-meter final. 

The race is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. McCormack is seeded third.
