Sheri McCormack capped her decorated Hope College running career with more feats on Saturday, including an All-America performance in the 1,500 meters.
The senior from Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS), finished sixth in the 1,500 meters during the final day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Delaware, Ohio.
McCormack clocked a time of 4 minutes, 36.94 seconds in her third trip to nationals.
McCormack is the first Flying Dutch runner to earn All-America recognition in the 1,500 meters. The top eight finishers in each event are All-Americans.

"It is really special for me, especially because it was my last race," McCormack said. "To finally get it is really amazing. It took four years of training, conditioning and adapting. There was a lot of focus during the offseason and all season long. It is a lot of mental energy before and during the race."

McCormack also became the fourth Hope athlete in any sport — male or female — to earn All-America distinction in two sports. She earned it last fall in cross country.
McCormack joined Jennifer Ernst, Steve Underwood and Marcia VanderSall as All-Americans in two sports. Ernst, Underwood and VanderSall also were All-America in cross country and track & field.
McCormack departs as the Flying Dutch's record holder in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:31.82 on May 9 at North Central (Illinois) College's Dr. Keeler Invitational
"It is an awesome way to finish up her career," Hope coach Kevin Cole said. "She's been so good for so many years. To finish sixth place in the nation is a great way to finish her career. It took a lot of heart, a lot of hard work. Every year at nationals she learned a little bit, and it all came together with a great couple of races."
The Flying Dutch finished 64th in the overall standings with three points.
