2014-15 Hope Women's Golf Season Outlook

The Hope College women's golf team is looking for a strong finish last season to catapult the Flying Dutch to improved results during the 2014-15 season.

Coach Greg Stafford, pictured, and the Flying Dutch feature a roster of 11 golfers. There are three seniors, one junior, three sophomores and four freshmen.

Hope's co captains are seniors Montana Leep of Hastings, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS) and Andrea Powell of Jenison, Michigan (Hudsonville HS).

Stafford is entering his sixth season as head coach.

The Flying Dutch tee off for the first time this season on Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Furniture City Classic in Grand Rapids. Hope is playing 10 events this fall, including the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree it is hosting on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Ravines Golf Club in Saugatuck.

The Flying Dutch are aiming to improve on a fifth-place finish in the 2013 MIAA final fall standings.

Leep claimed All-MIAA Second Team honors. She tied for 10th at the season-ending MIAA Jamboree last fall.

Hope concluded last spring by winning a 36-hole tournament hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a score of 677. Morgan Leep finished fifth at 165 to lead the Flying Dutch, while her sister Montana, now a junior from Hastings, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS), shot the same 36-hole score.
